USB Flashdrive Snaps in Half!

As an undergraduate I kept all of my work (previous and current coursework as well as personal items such as pictures) on a USB flashdrive. I was working on a poster that I had to give a presentation on that was only days away. I was in a hurry and quickly pulled the drive from the computer when the USB flashdrive snapped in half! Luckily I backed up most of my data the previous week, but my poster that I put hours of work into since the last back-up was gone! Not a good feeling for a very stressed presenter!

  1. How stressful! I once had a USB flashdrive break off in the computer, but luckily my IT friend was able to dislodge it. It still worked!

  2. My son (middle school) snapped his flashdrive when he pulled it out at an angle at school. It did not totally break--just the plastic sleeve that rotates. But the metal was bent, and we don't think putting it back in a USB port on a computer (to see if it could be salvaged) was such a good idea. So we put it in an external hub with 4 ports to test whether it would still work, and fortunately we were able to retrieve data without damaging the hub port.
